WHAT'S ON: School holiday guide for Maranoa Parents

SEEMINGLY within the blink of an eye, school holidays have once again rolled around.

For mum-of-two Christie Hoffmann, there is no shortage for activities to keep her children entertained, such as the netball clinic which her son Jake, 4, enjoyed.

"There's plenty of things on offer for the kids if you want to utilise hem,” she said.

"Jake hasn't played netball before but his sister does. He usually has to watch so it's good for him to get involved.”

Fellow participant Jessica Cook, also 4, started playing netball this year.

"It's a lot of fun and I can do it with my sister. I'm in kindy and I really like holidays.” Sister Isabel, who's just finished her first term of grade one, said she always looked forward to school holidays.

"I get to spend time with my sister and do some fun things I can't do when I'm at school,” she said.

"I don't know what we're doing all holidays yet but it will be fun.”

Once again, the Maranoa Regional Council has done their bit to help out parents find enough activities to fill the next two weeks. Here's what's on in your town.

Injune

A BAREFOOT bowls and barbecue will be held tomorrow afternoon from 3.30-5.30pm, with great prizes on offer. Don't forget your adult.

Unleash your inner warrior with an action-packed night of adrenaline-fuelled fun at Wednesday's laser skirmish challenge at the P-10 State School Grounds. 10-17 year olds, Be there at 5.30pm with $10 to play. Don't forget to wear closed in shoes and long pants.

Whether you're a budding shooter or just want to try something new, Julie Gray will be hosting a netball clinic on Thursday from 2-4pm at the school grounds for those aged 5 and over. Don't forget your hat, sunscreen and water.

Ever wondered what magical powers your cat might have? Find out about special cats all over the world at a special Story Time with a Musical Twist at Injune Library next Monday from 10am. My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes by Eve Sutton is part of the First 5 Forever tour.

A special Gold Coast skateboarder will be running workshops for five-and-ups next Thursday from 10am at the Injune Skate Park. Jay Hetherington will bring 15 skateboards with him if you don't have your own. Don't forget your helmet.

Mitchell

THERE will be a chance for Mitchell laser warriors to do battle tonight when the laser skirmish comes to town. Bookings are essential, before you meet at 5.30pm at the Mitchell RSL & Combined Sports Complex for a night of action. Make sure you have long pants and enclosed shoes.

Mitchell Library next Monday will host a Three Cats Design Art Workshop from 10-11am, where you can learn to make your air-dried clay fauna creations. Bookings are essential, make sure you call Keryn 0401 443 373.

As part of NAIDOC week next week, there will be a special morning tea at the Yumba, which all are invited to attend. Head on down to the Yumba Settlement from 9.30 am on Friday.

Roma

ALL week, Clinton and his team from Storm Co Kids Club will be offering an afternoon of sports, games, singing, arts and crafts from 2-4pm until Friday at the Roma PCYC. Activities on offer will change daily, so your children will never get bored! There will be something for everyone. For more information contact 0409 946 626.

Games, face painting, dance and music will all celebrate NAIDOC Cultural Day. Catholic Care and Origin will be supplying breakfast from 8am before activities begin at 9. There will be a lunch break at 12pm before the day wraps up at 2pm. Meet at the grassed area near he Maranoa PCYC, 38-44 George St, Roma. Don't forget your hat, sunscreen, water bottle and enclosed shoes.

For three days, Kathryn Wightman will be running a daycamp, where children will participate in orienteering, archery, crafts, drumming and more. This is open to children in years 1-7, and costs $60 per child to keep them busy from 8am to 4pm from next Tuesday to Thursday.

The skateboarding experience of Jay Hetherington will be coming to Roma next Wednesday. Make sure you register your interest quick, there are limited spots. Don't forget your helmet and wear enclosed shoes.

Surat

HAVE you ever wondered about what you can't see with just your eyes? The Surat Library wants to help you discover a whole new world of microbeasts through a digital microscope, right from an iPad! Head down to the library tomorrow morning from 10am.

StormCo Activities will be running all week. At 7pm tonight there will be a movie at the YouthZone. Tomorrow and Friday from 3-5pm, head to the Recreation Oval (with your hat, sunscreen, water and enclosed shoes) for some outdoor fun. From 6pm on Thursday, there will be a barbecue and games night. On Saturday, there will be a scavenger hunt and picnic lunch at the Riverside Parklands from 12pm.

Laser Skirmish heads to Surat next Thursday.

10-17 year olds are invited to the Warroo Sporting Complex with their $10 at 5.45pm.

Wallumbilla/Yuleba

THIS week, Three Cats Design are running art workshops making collages around forests and it's animals. They'll be running in Wallumbilla on Wednesday from 2-3pm, and in Yuleba on Thursday. Bookings are essential, so make sure you call Keryn on 0401 443 373 for more information.

Noonga Hall will host a games day next Monday. Don't forget to bring some morning tea to share, a chair or blanket for the movie, and a water bottle.
