The clean-up continues across Roma after wild storms tore roofs off houses, fell trees and powerlines and left residents in the dark.
Damage in places was so severe there was speculation a tornado had developed, but the Bureau of Meteorology said there was not evidence that was the case.
BOM meteorologist Lovio Regano said the damage was caused by “severe wind gusts”, which are categorised as those that exceed 90km/h.
According to BOM, Roma recorded less than 1mm of rain by midday Thursday.
Those numbers are expected to go up, according to Mr Regano.
A minor flood warning was issued for Bungil creek, with localised areas outside Roma likely to see another drenching of 20-30mm.
Six roads remain closed and three more affected by flood waters as of Thursday, though the route into Injune closed the night before was reopened.
Emergency crews worked late into the night on Wednesday to re-establish power to thousands of homes in the Roma region.
Ergon energy spokesman Brett Judge said power was restored to most homes by 9pm, after more than 3500 people left without power by powerful wind gusts of more than 90km/h that felled trees and stripped the roofs from houses and buildings.
Mayor Tyson Golder asked Roma residents to sit tight, but also be prepared over the coming days.
“Just watch it, but don’t be concerned,” he said.
Mr Golder says he is watching the next 24 hours for heavy rains which might exacerbate minor flooding already present across town.
“Hopefully we get no really big rains because the volume of water is what does the damage,” he said.
