MITCHELL camping spots have always welcomed visitors and now the town has been officially declared as RV-friendly by the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia.
The newly-awarded status is intended to add value through tourism, specifically from those on holidays in their recreational vehicles, CMCA chairman Garry Lee said.
"The RV Friendly Town network makes a significant contribution to the RV tourism market in Australia.
"As the value of RV tourism becomes widely accepted, CMCA has more than 335 towns across Australia with RV-friendly status.
"For Mitchell, joining the RV Friendly Town network will deliver direct benefits to the local business community,” he said.
More specifically, Mr Lee outlined how Mitchell would be promoted to holiday- makers as a great place to visit in their motorhome or caravan.
"Mitchell will be promoted to RV travellers across Australia through the CMCA club magazine The Wanderer, and through the CMCA website and social media.
"With the self-contained RV tourism market estimated to be worth more than $2.5 billion annually, Mitchell is now well-positioned to access this lucrative tourism market,” Mr Lee said.
