MEMBERS of Southern Queensland Natural Resource Management (NRM) and the general public are invited to attend the first general meeting of the new NRM organisation in Roma on Wednesday, October 31.

Chair of Southern Queensland NRM Mark O'Brien said it would be a great opportunity for members to meet the organisation's new directors.

"It's an exciting time for our region, and a great opportunity to tackle the challenges we face in the NRM sector head-on - with a new Board of Directors and a united regional approach,” he said.

The board of directors will have a focus on being skills-based, with two current directors continuing.

An independent chair will also be appointed to the board.

Company directors will be responsible to the membership for overall governance, including oversight of the strategic delivery of community-based natural resource management across the Southern Queensland NRM region.

"We invite anyone with an interest in our region's natural resources to come along to meet the board, and our new CEO Paul McDonald,” said Mr O'Brien.

"Southern Queensland NRM is focused on community-led natural resource management, so come along and share your thoughts on our region's NRM future.”

Four new directors will be formally appointed at end-of-month meeting, which will be held in the Ernest Brock Room at the Maranoa Regional Council Chambers.
