A GOOD night's sleep for Roma locals is the number one priority for Emily Walker at Vital Health, who is on a mission to educate people about sleep apnoea.

The sleep health support officer will join forces with top respiratory and sleep physician Dr Glenn Rice-McDonald next week to present community information sessions on sleep health covering sleep apnoea, CPAP, and the benefits of testing.

"Some people may not even realise how bad sleep apnoea can be, and say they will just sort it in in a few weeks or months,” Ms Walker said.

"They might be used to heavy snoring, or waking up gasping for air, but it is the little things like that to look for.

"Those little things are why people might ignore it, but there is the risk of a stroke or other complications down the track.”

The sleep health community information session will be held at Vital Health Roma from 3.30-4.30pm on Monday, July 22. A session for medical professionals will run from 5.30pm.
