RACEGOERS who attended the Roma Cup meeting have been praised by police for their good behaviour.

Senior-Sergeant Duane Frank said officers were happy with the 99 per cent of the crowd at the event.

Unfortunately they conducted more than 3000 random breath tests on drivers and subsequently charged 18 people with drink-driving offences.

One person was charged after returning a reading of .185 per cent and another had on .186, both nearly four times the legal limit.

A further nine people were charged with drug- driving offences, two with unlicensed driving and seven with drug offences.

More than 80 infringement notices were issued for various offences during the weekend.

"We praise 99 per cent of the community who were out on the weekend, it's been a fantastic event,” Sen-Sgt Frank said.

Away from Bassett Park, a Roma man was subject to a drug search at his residence and, as a result, police located a large quantity of methamphetamine.

The man has been charged and remanded in custody to appear in court later this month.
