Three Roma boys have been charged with 28 offences after allegedly stealing cars from support services and doing a “considerable” amount of damage to a school.

The boys, aged 12, 13 and 14 were charged this week and released on bail.

The 12-year-old boy was charged with two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, four counts of break and enter and one count each of wilful damage and unlicensed driving.

The 13-year-old was charged with three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, three counts of break and enter, two counts of unlicensed driving and one count of wilful damage.

And the 14-year-old boy was charged with the most offences, including three counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts each of break and enter, enter premises with intent, and unlicensed driving, and one each wilful damage and graffiti.

Roma officer in charge Duane Frank said the three boys allegedly did “considerable” damage and destruction at the Roma State School in recent weeks and stole multiple vehicles from Anglicare and Blue Care.

They are due to front the Roma Children’s Court on Monday.

Sergeant Frank said some matters are still outstanding and police will continue to investigate.

“Over the past 12 months, we have seen a small group of recidivist offenders but the police are working hard to investigate each matter,” he said.

“Thanks to the work of officers, we now have some youth attending court.”

Sergeant Frank said despite these charges, the community must still remember to lock their doors and cars and be vigilant.

“Modern cars just require the keys to start, so people need to remember to also hide their keys to prevent their cars being stolen,” he said.

This follows as a 17-year-old boy fronted the Roma Children’s Court charged with allegedly stealing close to $100,000 worth of jewellery from a Toowoomba home and luxury cars.
