A Roma man busted speeding with meth in his system claims his drink must have been spiked with the drug while he was using the bathroom at a party.
Kierren Jade Walsh fronted Roma Magistrates Court last week and pleaded guilty to drug driving on June 29.
Police prosecutor Barry Stevens said Walsh’s vehicle was intercepted after he was clocked travelling 140 km/h in a 100 km/h zone just after 1pm.
He was also subject to a roadside drug test but denied taking any illicit substances.
Walsh’s drug test was positive to ice.
Representing himself in court, Walsh told magistrate Peter Saggers he believed he was spiked at a party the night before.
“I went to the toilet and came back and picked up my drink from a bunch of drinks on the table,” he said.
“I’m not saying someone deliberately spiked me but that’s how I think it happened.”
Walsh was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.
