Pinaroo colleagues pay tribute to outgoing CEO

PINAROO chief executive officer Ian Murphy has left an indelible mark on the Roma aged care facility with colleagues paying tribute to his forward-thinking initiatives.

Mr Murphy resigned from his position as CEO of Pinaroo Roma Inc and was thanked for his dedicated six-year service at a board dinner recently.

Board chairman Howard Hobbs said Mr Murphy had a wealth of knowledge in the aged care sector and his expertise greatly assisted Pinaroo's continued development into a highly successful aged care provider for the Maranoa region.

"We wish him every success with his future career endeavours,” Mr Hobbs said.

"Aged care in Australia has been in the limelight recently with a Royal Commission examining all aspects of the industry and Pinaroo's good reputation and successful ongoing accreditation was assisted greatly through strict processes put in place by the CEO and dedicated staff.”

Mr Murphy's offsider and clinical manager Melanie Calvert, who has been at Pinaroo for six years, was appointed the new CEO.

Mrs Calvert has been a registered nurse for 16 years, trained in London and has an extensive history of working with older adults with mental health issues, including dementia.

Mr Hobbs said the board had no hesitation in recommending Mrs Calvert for the position.

"She was an excellent choice for CEO,” Mr Hobbs said.

"Melanie will bring her clinical expertise to the CEO role and is passionate that resident care continues to remain paramount at Pinaroo.”
