EASTER may not be for another two weeks, but that didn't stop the Easter Bunny from making an early delivery in Roma.

Dozens of children from around Roma spent Saturday morning making their own Easter baskets, before they foraged through the field at Moorelands Bush Nursery, trying to recover the treasures the Bunny had left them.

Amber Davis, best known around town for Bessie's Ice Cream Truck, decided to organise the inaugural egg hunt as a way to kick start the school holidays, and raise some money for the Roma Show Committee.

"I'm not part of the show committee, but I thought I'd help out,” she said.

"All the money we raised will go back to the entertainment section of the show.

"This year we will have the animal nursery, which will be cool, typically for children under five there's not been much to do at the show in side show alley.”

Ms Davis said the young chocolate lovers and their parents had been great.

"It's a good way to start the school holidays, it gives them something to do. It's all about the kids, it's good to see their little faces all covered in chocolate.”
