A group of teenage girls wreaked havoc at a Cunnamulla service station when what started as verbal taunting turned into physical assault.

Mya Rose McKellar pleaded guilty in Roma Magistrates Court to one count each of common assault and public nuisance.

McKellar and a group of female juveniles entered the servo in June and began verbally taunting other young patrons.

Things took a turn for the worse when the 19-year-old raised her fists and became involved in a “scuffle”.

The court was told the victim, 20, attempted to separate the girls who were fighting, when a 1.25 litre bottle of lemonade was thrown directly at his face by McKellar.

Magistrate Shane Elliott said it was “a concerning assault” and the defendant was lucky she wasn’t charged with any other kind of assault.

McKellar was placed on a $500 good behaviour bond for six months, and no conviction was recorded.
