Maranoa Netball Association's plea for more mixed teams

MIXED Netball is usually a popular social sport for Roma locals, but it seems the numbers aren't adding up at the moment.

A player shortage could become a concern for the club's upcoming one-day carnival, aimed at getting mixed teams involved in the sport.

Kaylene Hall, organiser of the carnival, told The Western Star how many more people they are looking for.

"Not many teams are involved at this stage and we need more,” she said.

"We have only got 4 teams registered so far and we would need at least another 10 to run a good carnival.

"Registrations were going to close today but we will take late nominations for this one.”

Typically more women are involved with Netball, and finding enough men to join in at mixed games can be tricky sometimes.

But for all players who may be hesitant about joining, Ms Hall has one simple piece of advice.

"The carnival is just for fun, so join in,” she said.

Maranoa Netball Association's mixed netball carnival will be held on Saturday, March 23.

A Grade, B Grade and Junior games will be held, and winners will receive prize money.
