Golden Wattle heads southwest

Centrelink, Medicare, DVA services on the way to southwest QLD.

A MOBILE service centre is making its way around southwest Queensland, set to help drought affected rural residents.

The Golden Wattle is a 20 tonne truck, operated by staff from the Department of Human Services, will tour the region and provide face-to-face customer service and tailored support with a variety of services.

Staff will be able to help rural residents with Centrelink claims, Medicare registrations, and accessing online services.

On board, there will also be a Farm Household case officer and departmental social worker who will be able to provide specialist assistance to drought-affected farmers, including support with Farm Households Allowance claims.

Information about Department of Veterans' Affairs programs and support services will also be available.

The centre's itinerary is:

  • St George on Tuesday 27 November, from 9am to 4pm, located near the Council Chambers, Grey Street
  • Bollon on Wednesday 28 November, from 10am to 2:30pm, located in front of Civic Centre, Balonne Highway
  • Thargomindah on Thursday 29 November, from 11am to 4pm, located near Thargomindah Swimming Pool, Dowling Street
  • Cunnamulla on Friday 30 November from 11am to 4pm, and Monday 3 December from 9am to 3pm, located near the Post Office, Stockyard Street
  • Quilpie on Tuesday 4 December, from 11am to 2:30pm, located in front of the Council Office, Brolga Street
  • Augathella on Wednesday 5 December, from 9:30am to 11:30am, located opposite the Rural Transaction Centre, Main Street
  • Morven on Wednesday 5 December, from 2pm to 4pm, located near the Foodland Store, Albert Street
  • Mitchell on Thursday 6 December, from 9am to 4pm, located opposite the Western Hotel, Cambridge Street
  • Injune on Friday 7 December, from 9:30am to 4pm, located at Injune Memorial Hall car park, Hutton Street
  • Surat on Monday 10 December, from 9:30am to 4pm, located in front of the Lions Park, Burrowes Street
  • Glenmorgan on Tuesday 11 December, from 9:30am to 11:30am, located near Glenmorgan Railway
  • Meandarra on Tuesday 11 December, from 1:30pm to 4pm, located near the School of Arts, Sara Street
  • Hannaford on Wednesday 12 December, from 9:30am to 11:30am, located near Hannaford Community Centre, Hannaford Road
