Financial aid for Maranoa medical students and professionals

Grants totalling $70,000 are up for grabs for medical students and healthcare professionals in the Maranoa region, as the council tries to attract and retain medical professionals.
The financial assistance will be available for local healthcare workers who are looking to upskill, and aspiring medical students who live in the Maranoa region.
There is a total fund of $70,000 to be distributed to applicants across different categories.
The GP medical bursary is for students beginning their university study as medical students. Eligible applicant could be entitled to an annual bursary of $20,000 per year for the length of their medical study, up to seven years.
The GP retention bursary program offers $20,000 per year for a student doctor already completing their placement in the Maranoa region.
Two bursaries valued at $10,000 each are available for nursing students pursuing midwifery in the region.
Bursaries of $10,000 are also available for local nurse practitioners looking to upskill.
Applications for all program categories close January 10, 2023.
