FASHION and fundraising walked the runway hand-in-hand at Roma's own charity fashion show, organised by local boutiques Gretel Lane and Gorgeous.

The event, attended by a full of enthusiastic supporters, raised $2500 for breast cancer charity the Mother's Day Classic, and getting it off the ground was a collaborative effort.

"My daughter who works for me, Ellen, wanted to put on a fashion parade, and I said 'let's make it a charity event',” Gretel Lane owner Gabby Barron said.

"I've been involved with organising the Mother's Day Classic for both years in Roma, and we have just run that.

"So, because we are able to fundraise for our cause until the end of June, we decided to make the proceeds from the fashion parade a donation.”

The Mother's Day Classic is a cause women of Roma have rallied behind, and Ms Barron said they were linked by a common thread.

"We all know someone who has had breast cancer, whether it is a relative or a friend, we all know someone.”
