The Roma community has paid tribute to business stalwart Peter Taylor after his sudden death.
Mr Taylor, with his wife Wendy, started Taylors Parts Centre in 1985, and was a respected figure in the business community of the Maranoa region.
Earlier this year Mrs Taylor was elected mayor of Maranoa Regional Council, and Mr Taylor was a key part of her campaign.
In the wake of his sudden passing tributes have flowed, as it was announced that Mrs Taylor would take a leave of absence from her role as mayor.
Deputy mayor Cameron O’Neil will be acting mayor in the interim and said council was united in their support of Mrs Taylor and her family.
“Peter Taylor was a deeply loved son of Mrs Dawn Andrews, husband to Wendy, adored father to their girls and Poppy to their beautiful grandchildren, not to mention a great mate to many,” Mr O’Neil said.
“Peter was a stalwart of the Maranoa business community and his loss will be deeply felt across the region. He will be terribly missed by us all.
“The entire council is fully behind Wendy, and our hearts are with her and the family in this difficult time.”
Mr O’Neil said it was Mrs Taylor’s desire that Friday’s Ordinary Meeting of Council to proceed as planned in her absence.
“Out of respect Wendy will be kept informed of council matters, particularly as we prepare
for the council budget,” he said.
Details regarding Peter's funeral will be announced in due course.
