CAMPDRAFTing: There was a cloud of dust in the arena as riders and their noble steeds competed in the annual Eumamurrin campdraft.

Almost 200 competitors descended on the small community for the three-day event.

Secretary Jane Lee said this year's campdraft was a huge success after not having one since 2016.

"Last year we didn't get a campdraft in and we were going to host one in March but it was washed out so we postponed it until now.

"We decided to run a three-day draft so we could let more competitors in and have more time to do things properly, as well and enjoy the weekend,” Lee said.

This year the event had 950 nominations.

"Eumamurrin has a pretty good reputation and everybody always wants to come, so I am never short of nominations,” she said.

"The competition has been really good and Friday's drafting was probably among the best we have seen in years.”
