THE WINTER wardrobe will be well and truly out in force over the weekend, as the cold temperatures set in.

A cold snap dropped temperatures earlier in the week, and the Bureau of Meteorology declared Roma residents will continue to feel the cold this weekend.

Night time temperatures in the region will been around 2-3C over the weekend due to a weather movement from the south.

These cool mornings will creep into next week as well, with the maximum temperature on Tuesday forecast to be 21C.

Light winds are also forecast of the weekend and there will not be a drop of rain anywhere.

This means the morning commute to work or school will be a little more painful, as the winter season begins to ramp up.

Adam Blazak from the Bureau said residents should have their jumpers and jackets at the ready.

"The moisture in generally acts as a blanket and keeps the warmth in however there is little moisture in the air,” Mr Blazak said.

"With no moisture temperature tend to free-fall at night.”

Mr Blazak said a big southerly from New South Wales was the cause main cause of the sudden drop in temperature.

He also warned there would be a good chance of frost in the region over the weekend, however it would need to be colder to have a wide spread impact.
