Charleville residents will avoid ticket price surging and fluctuations under a new deal with the Murweh Shire Council and regional airline Rex.

The four year deal brokered allows residents of Charleville and surrounds will have access to flights to Brisbane through Rex at $179 one way or $358 return without worry of flight price surging.

The partnership came in effect from January 1.

The deal is expected to give residents peace of mind who need to travel at peak times when other airlines may increase their pricing.

Murweh Shire mayor Shaun Radnedge said it was ‘good for locals’ to know if something urgent came up there was a fixed price even at the most popular times for travel.

“Rex shows genuine, grassroots support for the local community, and we’re proud and grateful to the brilliant team at Rex for their support,” Mayor Radnedge said.

“It’s good to know we can get home at a fair price.”

The Murweh Residents’ Fare will be on sale via Western Travel Service in Charleville.
