POLICE have issued a timely reminder to lock your vehicles after a number of Roma residents reported suspicious activity.

On Saturday night police attended a Highview Close residence after a known male person approached a parked vehicle in the driveway.

It is alleged he opened the passenger door before he was disturbed by the property's residents who were returning home around 11pm.

The offender swiftly left the premises without stealing anything.

Police were called to the scene where they collected prints from the car's bonnet.

Locals have taken to social media to vent their frustration at the increased number of vehicle break ins, with other residents reporting their own incidents on a community Facebook page.

One resident claims her daughter woke up to find someone else in her car on Thursday night in Foott St.

Sargent Shane Foley said Roma Police were urging locals to lock their cars or risk potential consequences.

"It's unfortunate that this still happens,” he said.

"We know that many of these kinds of incidents are not reported to police.

"But we just want to remind everyone to lock their cars.”
