Hundreds of jobs will be up for grabs as Vena Energy announces it has reached its financial close on the first stage of the 125 megawatt Wandoan South Solar Project.
The Western Downs project will be capable of producing up to 365 gigawatt hours of energy annually, which is enough to power about 60,000 homes.
Head of Vena Energy Australia Owen Sela said closing on this project is ‘instrumental’ for the company’s vision to transition Australia into a greener future.
“Climate change presents a real and ever-present threat to the environment,” he said.
“Vena Energy is committed to accelerating the development of innovative renewable energy projects.
“Vena Energy continues to serve its customers’ demand for affordable and clean electricity whilst helping them decarbonise and contribute towards Australia’s net-zero targets.
“With the commencement of construction earlier this year, Vena Energy anticipates a peak workforce of approximately 350 people.”
The company is seeking skilled workers in earthmoving, civil works, fencing and landscaping contracting, electrical and telecommunications, surveying, security, installation and general labour and environment and weed control.
Following the construction period, there will be full-time and part-time operation and maintenance positions up for grabs.
Some of these ongoing positions include site management and administration staff, site security, cleaners for the solar panels and electrical maintenance staff.
