It will be alleged a woman was sitting in a car on George Lane in Rockhampton around 5.15pm on Wednesday, November 15, when an unknown man approached the vehicle and threatened her with a knife.

The woman ran from the car and the man fled in the black Mazda 3.

On Thursday afternoon detectives arrested a man at a Toolooa residence.

Malachi Jordan Conway was charged with one count each of armed robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade police and stealing. He was also charged with two counts of assault police.

The 20-year-old Oconnell man had his matters mentioned in Gladstone Magistrates Court on Friday.

Mr Conway’s matters were adjourned to December 12 and he was remanded in custody.

Police said no one was physically injured during the incident.

The arrest came after police released CCTV footage of the drama which showed a man walking through the South Rockhampton Red Rooster car park.

Footage captured him entering the store then speaking to someone and walking back out.
