Multiple dead, vehicle on fire following horrific CQ highway crash

Multiple people have been killed and a Central Queensland highway has been closed after a horror two-vehicle crash.

Four people have been killed in a horror crash on the Capricorn Highway between Comet and Blackwater.

The two vehicle crash occurred at 10.50am, a Queensland Police Service spokesman said, adding that a further two people were transported to Emerald Hospital with serious injuries.

Two fire crews were attending the scene which involved two vehicles, a Queensland Fire Department spokesman said.

The QFD spokesman said one of the cars involved in the crash was on fire when crews arrived.

Both lanes of the Capricorn Highway have since been closed, with police indicating it will remain closed for some time.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said paramedics had assessed multiple patients at the scene.
