Two people have been taken to hospital after the car they were in crashed into a shopfront on Yeppoon’s main street on Wednesday morning.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics were called to a single vehicle crash into a building on James Street at 11.50am.
“Two patients, both appear to be in their 70s, a male and a female, were initially encapsulated in the vehicle,” the QAS spokeswoman said.
The QAS spokeswoman said both occupants did not appear to have suffered external injuries and they were both taken to Capricorn Coast Hospital in stable conditions.
She said no-one else was injured.
Given the coastal tourist town is busy at this time of year and the crash happened in the main street where most of Yeppoon’s retail shops are, it was fortunate that no pedestrians or workers were involved.
Police are investigating.
