THE 29-year-old man who died in a single-vehicle accident north of Rockhampton on Sunday morning will be farewelled this Friday.

Samuel Dunn of Lavina Park, St Lawrence was travelling along the Bruce Hwy about 20km south of the Waverly Creek rest area near Ogmore, when his vehicle left the road and crashed just before 4am.

Tributes from family and friends began to flow on social media this week as the news of his passing spread.

Friends took to Facebook to post photos and their goodbyes with posts reading:

"Your time here was way too short Sammy, but in that short time you managed to touch so many hearts mate. Will miss that cheeky smile and infectious laugh of yours."

" Always the rebel....but hey mate what a ride....luv you always.....x"

"Will be missed amazing young man fly high Sambo thinking of you all."

Close mates used social media to recount the pigging trips Samuel went on with them.

One friend wrote how it was "hard to comprehend" the pigging trip they had just been on would have been the last they ever shared together.

"I'm sure your up there slaying a few boars," the post read.

Sam, who was the son of David and Noelene Dunn, will be laid to rest at 2pm on July 21, at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Gordon St Mackay.

The family advise floral tributes are optional or donations in lieu to CQ Rescue Helicopter Service are welcome. Envelopes available at the church.
