Trent Charles Langley charged with possessing meth, trafficking drugs

An 18-month wait for two key pieces of evidence has been flagged in the case against an alleged Central Queensland drug dealer who faces more than 80 charges. DETAILS.

The sheer volume of secretly recorded phone conversations and the wait for an important document has been blamed in court for delays in progressing the case against an alleged meth trafficker.

Trent Charles Langley, 32, was first arrested when police allegedly found 13.9 grams of meth in the ceiling lining of his car.

He was later charged with trafficking drugs and 78 charges of supplying drugs.

A bail application in January, 2022 failed and he’s been in custody on remand ever since.

At a recent mention of the case in Rockhampton Magistrates Court, Legal Aid lawyer said the Lauren Townsend said the drug analysis certificate, and one other item, was still outstanding in Mr Langley’s matters.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Sarah Rowe explained the estimated date of arrival for the drug analysis was after August 15 and the Telecommunications Intercepts (TI) package was going to be significantly longer due to the number of transcribed calls.

Along with the drug trafficking and supply charges, Mr Langley also faces the following charges – two of possessing property suspected use in drug crime, four of possessing tainted property, five of possessing drugs, two of possessing more than two grams of a drug, one of possessing a knife, one of contravene a police order about providing passcode necessary to access information stored electronically, two of possessing drug pipes, one of possessing a restricted drug, three bail breaches, one of disqualified drive, one of possessing anything used in crime and one of possessing more than two grams of a schedule one drug.

The case was adjourned to August 9 and he was remanded in custody.
