Receiving an overwhelming response from Rockhampton Morning Bulletin and Central Queensland readers, the region’s cutest babies competition unfolded as an epic week-long event.

Despite a tie-breaking extension, two bubs have remained on top, with baby boy Leo James Mallet and baby girl Alora Sirris sharing the title of Rockhampton and Central Queensland’s cutest baby for 2023.

Stealing hearts across the region, more than 90 gorgeous bubs were nominated for the cutest baby, with five bubs standing out among the rest, as voted by the readers.

#1 Leo James Mallet (tying with Alora Sirris)

Leo James Mallet has been named Rockhampton and Central Queensland’s cutest baby boy with 36 votes.

His mum, Luc Maree — who was one of many people that nominated him — was thrilled to hear the news that her beautiful 11 month old bub had received the title.

“It’s exciting hearing this news, he’s loved by so many,” she said.

“— especially his Mum and Dad.”

Receiving more than 70 likes in the callout alone, Leo James Mallet was a crowd favourite from the start and it’s easy to see why.

His mum’s post, nominating him in the callout, received more than 50 likes.

“I could write a 100 reasons (why he deserves the title), although his smile is the cutest ever,” she said.

Leo was also nominated by their family friend Ashlee Carr, who wrote “just look at his face, it’s more reason enough.”

“He’s an amazing little boy that I am having the blessing to watch grow!”

Born on January 10, 2023, Leo James Mallet will be celebrating his first birthday next month at his family home in Yeppoon.

“Leo is such a smart, loving boy and is smashing all his goals,” his mum said.

“He loves reading books, his animals and of course food, he’s obsessed with trucks and trains, loves riding around on his car, eating bugs and splashing in his pool.

Watching him grow each day is amazing; I’m blessed with such a handsome, loving boy!”

1# Alora Sirris (tying with Leo James Mallet)

Alora Sirris has been named Rockhampton and Central Queensland’s cutest baby girl, sharing the majority of votes with the region’s cutest baby boy, Leo James Mallet.

Ten month old Alora (born April 4, 2023) was notably in the lead for most of the poll, with Leo crawling up within the last few days.

Nominated by her mother, Boneeka Sirris, she has melted hearts with her contagious smile.

“Her smile is contagious and just gorgeous. I bet she has the best giggle too,” Tara Flaherty commented.

In the final days of the poll, Alora’s grandmother who had been cheering her on the entire competition sent in a short clip of her cuteness overload.

“Nannies gorgeous baby,” she said.

2# Violet Stephenson

With 10 votes between them and first place, Violet Stephenson has secured second place for the region’s cutest baby of 2023.

Born a month early on March 27, 2023, Violet is her parent’s rainbow baby after years of 12 years of trying, several miscarriages and the tragic loss of her nine year old sister, Sophie, five years ago.

“Violet is always happy and charms everyone,” her mum, Mel Stephenson, said.

“She is the most sweetest little bub and has the most cheekiest of smiles.

An absolutely adorable little girl.”

3# Ky-marli Fauid (tying with McKenzee Burger)

Receiving 19 votes, Ky-marli Fauid has tied with McKenzee Burger for third place.

Ky-marli was nominated by his mum, Britney Willie, for his bright and happy nature.

“He always has a big smile on his chubby cheeks and loves getting attention just as much as he loves his food.”

3# McKenzee Burger (tying with Ky-marli Fauid)

Receiving 19 votes and sharing third place with Ky-marli Fauid, McKenzee Burger is her parent’s rainbow baby, born on August 16, 2023.

“After trying for 8.5 years and suffering 2 losses, we finally have the missing piece to our puzzle,” her mum, Kim-lee Burger said.

“She’s one happy baby who always has a smile for everyone.”
