Three young people vied for the titles of Miss and Mr NAIDOC at the annual NAIDOC Ball on Saturday night - but it was Karina Wuruki and her partner who took home the tiara and crown.
Billie-Ann Comollati, Israel Power and Ms Wuruki were photographed with their partners at the event at Rockhampton Leagues Club.
Ms Wuruki, 19, was sponsored by Darumbal Community Youth Service Inc.
In her entrant profile, she spoke about her contributing to community by creating artwork for local organizations in Rockhampton.
“I would like to help teach kids about their culture through painting,” she said.
“A personal experience that has had an impact on my life has been moving away from home and learning to live independently.”
The event was a chance for the NAIDOC Committee to catch up with friends and family after a long week of NAIDOC events including the Baby Show and the March.
