A man who has had 14 warrants issued for his arrest in the past is accused of two assaults in a popular retail store, being released on bail two days later and then carrying out a more serious assault at an entertainment establishment.

Steelie Gregory Morgan, 41, made a bail application in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on December 24 after being charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.

Acting Magistrate Paul Byrne said the charge was laid in relation to an alleged incident where Mr Morgan “assaulted people” at the Rockhampton’s tenpin bowling alley on Musgrave Street in Berserker on December 22.

The court heard Morgan was on bail at the time for two counts of common assaults which allegedly took place at Silly Sollys on December 19, 2024 and he was granted bail on December 21.

Defence lawyer Rebecca Winning said all charges were contested.

She said he was also on a suspended sentence which was handed down in December 2023.

Ms Winning said her unemployed father-of-three client wanted to be bailed to his parents address in Keppel Sands.

However, police prosecutor Brandon Selic said Mr Morgan was not welcome at that address and there had been 14 warrants issued in the past 12 years for bail breaches.

Mr Byrne found Mr Morgan was a risk of reoffending and denied him bail.

Mr Morgan was remanded in custody and his matters were adjourned to January 10.
