Rockhampton’s junior touch teams have dominated at Queensland Touch Football’s Bundaberg Cup, winning four of the five divisions they contested.

Now in its ninth year, the two-day event allows competitors to play social touch in a carnival-style atmosphere.

It has always proven a happy hunting ground for Rockhampton teams and it proved to be the case again in the 2025 edition played at the weekend.

Rockhampton Rebels took out the under-12 boys with a 5-2 win over Gladstone Blue in the final.

Rockhampton Red were victorious in both under-14 competitions, the girls beating Gladstone 4-nil and the boys getting up 6-1 against Bundaberg in their deciders.

The under-16 boys grand final at the Bundaberg Cup was an all-Rockhampton affair, with Red taking the honours from Black.

Rockhampton Touch president Gary Benbow said it was a great carnival to be involved in.

“It’s a really good competition and we always try to take as many teams as we can,” he said.

“It’s a chance for our juniors to have a bit of fun and it’s good for our coaches to see our players come up against some different opposition.”
