The recovery process of the truck that came off the Bruce Highway and hit railway lines near Raglan is still underway as of Thursday morning.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Ambulance Services were on scene by about 4.35am on Wednesday morning for the single truck accident.

As the truck had hit high voltage power lines, emergency crews had to wait until it was safe to treat the patient.

The male driver, who was in his late 20s, was assessed for suspected head and spinal injuries.

RACQ Capricorn Rescue 300 flew the man to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.

The scene is about 45 minutes from Rockhampton and is south of the Raglan Tavern.

The incident did not affect any of the lanes on the Bruce Highway.

Crews had to brave six degree weather at 4am when attending the scene.

Early investigations from police indicate the truck was heading north on the Bruce Highway and veered off the highway road, 30 to 40 metres to the train tracks.

The cab landed on the second and furthest line and the trailers on the other line.

Thankfully, the last coal train had only passed 15 minutes beforehand.

Aurizon have reported the overhead power lines and rail track were “extensively damaged” in the incident.

“Aurizon teams have worked around the clock since early yesterday to remove the truck, while ensuring the safety of all teams on site during the recovery operation,” an Aurizon spokesperson said.

“Work will continue today on restoring overhead power and the track infrastructure.”

The Rockhampton and Bundaberg Tilt Train services, both northbound and southbound, remains disrupted again on Thursday and those customers will travel on a road coach instead.

Travellers on the Spirit of Queensland, from Cairns to Brisbane, will be able to travel on the train to Rockhampton and be transferred to a bus from Rockhampton to Gladstone and back on another train at Gladstone, and the opposite timetable for the Brisbane to Cairns.

The track is expected to re-open to freight, coal and passenger traffic around midnight tonight (Thursday August 11).

No charges have been laid by police at this stage.
