A suspected e-scooter battery blaze has razed a shed days after another devastating Central Queensland fire claimed four lives with investigators probing the possibility it started the same way.

A Capricorn Coast family is counting their blessings after a fire, which may have been caused by an e-scooter battery, ripped through their backyard shed on Saturday, November 8.

Footage posted on the Facebook Yeppoon Community Noticeboard page by Kathy Mepstead shows what appears to be a white garden shed engulfed in flames as locals and then firefighters desperately try to contain the blaze.

Ms Mepstead stated in the post the fire started on her property and locals alerted her daughter of the danger.

“My daughter and dog may not have been OK if it wasn't for all the people who helped as the house was close to be getting on fire too,” she said.

The fire occurred on Ms Mepstead’s birthday but she said in her post she was just “so happy my kids and dog are OK”.

She speculated the blaze may have been caused by an e-scooter battery.

Two fire crews attended a Yeppoon address on Saturday about 2.30pm after reports of a shed on fire, a Queensland Fire Department spokesman said, adding the fire was extinguished within five minutes of arrival and there were no injuries.

The fire on the Capricorn Coast comes two days after four people died in a house fire in Central Queensland, with fire investigators considering an e-scooter battery as a possible cause.

That fire, which occurred on Opal St in Emerald on Thursday November 6, killed Maddison Symons, 20 months, her brother Desmond, five months, family friend Mathew Chilly, 36, and his daughter Cameron Chilly, 15.

A large tribute made up of flowers, teddy bears, candles and photos now adorn the fence in front of the gutted property.
