THE doors have shut on the Post Office Hotel in North Rockhampton and the demolition job is about to start.

The pub, which had been the target of numerous break-ins in recent times, closed its doors earlier this year.

The building has since been bought by Noel Handley.

The Rockhampton man is holding a demolition sale to get rid of everything from the doors to the ceilings of the pub on Musgrave St.

"The sale is to get rid of all the internal fittings," Mr Handley said.

"We will be knocking down walls and roofs (shortly)."

Mr Handley will turn the old pub into a retail showroom and is looking to lease it.

"We need to find a tenant and it could be for anything from electrical to furnishing, carpet or tiles or even bedding retail," he said.
