Rockhampton Little Theatre’s mid-year show is the Neil Simon comedy “Last of the Red Hot Lovers”.

Rehearsals are in full swing with cast and crew eager to share the brilliance of Neil Simon’s script.

Simon’s writing style involves rapid-fire jokes and wisecracks; he is most famous for having written ‘Barefoot in the Park’ and ‘The Odd Couple’.

His protagonist Barney Cashman is middle-aged, married, successful in business and a man going through a mid-life crisis.

Most importantly, he wants to join the sexual revolution before it’s too late.

He tries not just once, but three times, with three different women, and each time, something prevents the affair from happening.

The role of Cashman is played by seasoned performer Mark Roberts, whose comedy chops will no doubt leave the audience in stitches.

He is joined by Tess Quinn (Elaine), Joy Symonds (Jeannette) and Courtney Brown (Bobbie).

This play hilariously examines what it means to grow older, and asks the question, “What do you do when it seems as if your life hasn’t been fully lived?”
