A woman accused of killing her husband will contest her murder charge next year, the Supreme Court of Rockhampton has heard.
Kerrie Lee Catling, 50, was charged with murder after her husband Chris, 51, died in hospital, allegedly as a result of a single stab wound by a knife to his chest sustained at the family home in North Rockhampton on March 22, 2021.
Ms Catling was charged in August 2021.
Her murder charge was presented to the Supreme Court this morning where her defence lawyer, Grant Cagney, gave an update.
“At the moment, this matter is to be a trial,” he said.
“There may be some scope for a submission to be placed to the Crown.”
Mr Cagney said that would happen in the near future.
He said the court would be provided an update at the next mention.
The court has previously been told police received two triple-0 calls on the day of Mr Catling’s death, the first from a male, with a female voice heard in the background, before it was terminated.
Police found Mr Catling unresponsive in a lounge chair in the couple’s Norman Gardens home, with a knife on the ground near his right hand.
He had no defensive wounds, the court heard.
Ms Catling’s murder case was adjourned until January 29.
She was remanded in custody.
