Rockhampton’s Christopher Passmore to be farewelled after horror crash at Booubyjan

Nearly three weeks after a horror crash claimed the lives of a Rockhampton couple near Gympie, one of them will be farewelled in a service on Thursday. Read the family’s touching tribute to him here.

Family and friends of Rockhampton man Christopher Passmore will farewell their much loved father, brother, uncle and cousin on Thursday, as he’s remembered for being a true “soulja”.

Christopher “Makaveli” Passmore, 39, and his wife Kylie Parker-Passmore both died in a horror crash on the Bruce Highway at Booubyjan near Gympie on May 6.

Mr Passmore is being remembered as someone who loved his culture and was a talented artist.

Known as “Makaveli” to those close to him, he is described by his loved ones as a kind and good-hearted man who showed respect to his elders and always did his best to make them proud.

A representative for his family, Sahra Posadas, said Mr Passmore would always greet family with a hug and leave with a smile.

“He will definitely be leaving us with many unforgettable memories and moments that will stay with us forever,” she said.

“Makaveli lived life big and impacted the lives of so many.

“He will definitely stay close to all those that truly love him, leaving little messages, dropping hints and signs, reminding them that he’ll never really be gone.”

Ahead of Mr Passmore’s funeral on Thursday, his family submitted a tribute to remember the man they loved so dearly.

Mr Passmore’s funeral will be held at the East Chapel of the Rockhampton Crematorium at 2pm on Thursday, May 26.

He loved his culture, was a talented artist, who loved to paint and always wanted to learn more about his ancestors.

He was connected to his dreaming. Christopher was a kind, good-hearted man who showed respect to his elders and always did his best to make them proud.

He lived with great burdens placed on his back form a very young age, but he never gave up the fight to find his own freedom while fighting for those he loved.

Misunderstood by many, but respected, loved and cherished by many more, Makaveli will never be forgotten.

He would give the shirt off his back to any stranger he saw in need, and always said when he would eat, everyone around him would eat too.

He would fight to the death for anyone he loved. He would protect the vulnerable, stand up against those who did wrong, and Makaveli would do anything to defend those he considered his family, regardless of them being blood or not.

He would greet everyone with the same respect and decency.

Truly a great man who will be deeply missed by many, he would always greet us with a hug and leave us with a smile, no matter who we were, he never judged or looked down on anyone.

We will never see another quite like him. The heart and soul of a true Soulja … he will definitely be leaving us with many unforgettable memories and moments that will stay with us forever.
