With the Spring Racing Carnival in full swing and the countdown on to the Melbourne Cup, we look back at the crowds who turned out for the region’s major race meetings in the past 12 months.
Our flashback starts with the 2022 St Peter’s Caulfield Cup Day, which drew hundreds of racegoers to Rockhampton’s Callaghan Park.
The annual event is the busiest on the Rockhampton Jockey Club’s calendar and this year’s edition, on October 21, attracted a record 3500-strong crowd.
Fashion took centre stage at the 2023 running of The Archer, the richest race in regional Queensland which is held at Callaghan Park.
The concept for the 1300m weight for age handicap is similar to that of The Everest, the world’s richest race on turf run at Sydney’s Randwick Racecourse.
Punters were hoping for the luck of the Irish when they rolled up for the St Patrick’s Day races in Rockhampton in March this year.
In April, patrons turned out at Callaghan Park for the Capricornia Yearling Sale 2YO Classic Race Day.
There was fun for all ages when the RJC hosted the Tattersall‘s Cup Race Day and Family Fun Day in June.
