ROCKHAMPTON'S historic Boldeman soap factory may be gone, but the new development going up in its place will ensure it won't be forgotten.
The Savon Villas will be built on the old site at 188 Upper Dawson Road, with 12 two and three-bedroom units for sale from $349,000.
Savon is French for soap, so Pat O'Driscoll's Leanne Fenech said Savon Villas was a fitting name.
"A lot of people have been living on The Range forever, and they want to downsize but want to stay on the south side," Ms Fenech said.
"We've designed a product the market wants and needs."
Kele Property Group is the developer, and director John Kele said the project would increase the area's value.
"It's going to be a great development," he said. "The factory was very old, and it had deteriorated to a point it had to be knocked down."
One unit had already had an expression of interest.
It is hoped construction will start in January and should be finished by mid-2014.
