Meikleville Hill in demand for housing at Livingstone

Multiple applications have been submitted to Livingstone Shire Council for new stages of estates on the Capricorn Coast, along with plans for land to be subdivided into house blocks.

New land opportunities could soon become available at the growing Yeppoon suburb of Meikleville Hill as developers apply to council to subdivide their land.

Two separate applications have been made to Livingstone Shire Council recently for a combined 20 lots at Meikleville Hill and another seven lots at Hidden Valley along with more stages at established Capricorn Coast estates.

The first application is for one lot into 13 lots at 11 Meikleville Street, Meikleville Hill, with lots ranging from 453 sqm to 592 sqm.

A new road and cul-de-sac will be constructed through the subdivision which will provide access to all of the lots.

Another application is for one lot into seven with a new council road on Kerr Street, Meikleville Hill.

This application notes “Meikleville Hill is one of the urban places identified within the Strategic Framework as an area where projected population growth can be accommodated”.

As its name suggests, the land in the suburb is quite hilly and steep.

The development has been designed to mitigate and be resilient to potential adverse impacts as can reasonably be experienced on steep slopes.

It is noted the land presents difficult design and construction obstacles and is better suited to single houses or dual occupancy.

Meanwhile, a permit has been requested for clearing and earthworks at 2328 Cassam Street, Hidden Valley, on the outskirts of Yeppoon, to make way for more land development.

Vegetation cleaning and bulk earthworks requests have also been submitted for stage one and two of Pacific Haven Estate at Pacific Heights.

This work is estimated to cost $575,476.

Over at Lammermoor, requests for stages 6B and 8, at The Shoals estate have been lodged for 26 new lots, estimated to cost $950,000.
