Rockhampton is getting ready to turn into a high-octane playground for car lovers after the biggest-ever Rockynats program was revealed on Wednesday.
With only 43 days left before 2025’s Rockynats event, Mayor Tony Williams confirmed that the event would include new and exciting features.
“Rockynats has become an iconic Rockhampton event that is loved by both locals and visitors, and with many new additions having been added to this year’s program, we’re excited to once again welcome visitors from out of region, as well as locals to Queensland’s largest car and bike festival,” he said on February 19.
All the usual crowd favourite events are set to return, including Friday’s Street Parade (Bill Blokker Spray Painting), Buddy’s Fire Burnouts, Street Drags (Garrett Motion), Show N Shine (Finch’s Mitre 10), and the Elite Pavilion (Lawrences Motors).
One of the most exciting additions for this year is a vibrant new zone featuring pop-up food vans with a range of Asian-inspired food and drinks on offer, called “Little Tokyo”.
Attendees will also get the unprecedented chance to get a close look at some of the hottest JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) cars and their drivers with the addition of the Hardtuned JDM Showcase.
Friday’s off-track show at the FMX Kaos Rockhampton Showgrounds will be the biggest yet, with a focus on family-friendly fun alongside new additions including speedway, jaw-dropping freestyle motocross shows by FMX Kaos and thrilling off-road remote control car racing.
On Saturday, Aussie music legend Pete Murray will headline a jam-packed evening of live entertainment.
Festival favourites like Mulletfest and the Tattoo Competition are also coming back in 2025, ensuring there will plenty of fun both on and off the tracks.
Sunday will bring a high-octane dose of retro Rockabilly nostalgia with live performances from rockabilly bands, the iconic RockabillyNats Pin Up Competition and Beginner Fashion Parade.
The weekend-long event will conclude in dramatic fashion with the Full Throttle Awards, alongside high-energy entertainment from TikTok sensations and Melbourne “bogan funk” band Playlunch at the Pit Stop Party.
Rockhampton Regional Council Tourism and Events Manager Zac Garven said pre-sales for this year’s event had already surpassed that of 2024, and now that the full program is live, attendees can start planning their weekend.
“With the Rockhampton Events App, patrons can start mapping out their ultimate Rockynats experience and make sure they don’t miss a second of the action,” Mr Garven said.
“And for those who haven’t secured their tickets yet, now is the time with this year’s program proving that Rockynats is more than just a car festival.”
“It’s an action-packed weekend of entertainment that truly offers something for all ages and interests.”
