A court date has been set for the cross examination of three witnesses involved in a case where a former prison officer is accused of breaching Covid lockdown and was busted with $1 million worth of methamphetamines.

Stephen Gary Crisp, 38, was charged after he allegedly travelled from locked-down Brisbane to Yeppoon with police intercepting him driving with co-accused Nathanael John Prange, on August 5, 2021.

Police also searched a Serengeti Court, Yeppoon, residence that day and allegedly found meth worth $500,000 to $1 million in various locations, including under a kitchen sink, in a freezer and in Mr Crisp’s vehicle.

Mr Crisp was charged with trafficking dangerous drugs, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, one count each of possessing dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of restricted drugs, possessing property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence, possession of a knife in a public place, and other drug and weapon-related offences.

The case was mentioned in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on August 3 where a date for a committal hearing was set.

Technical issues resulted in Mr Crisp’s lawyers not being present by phone for the mention, however, police prosecutor Senior Constable Peter Rumford advised the parties seeked a hearing date for three witnesses to be cross examined.

The hearing was set to proceed on September 16 in Rockhampton.

Gold Coast man Mr Prange, 40, was charged with trafficking drugs, unlawful possession of a weapon, possessing dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of a restricted drug, possession of a knife in a public place and other drug and weapon-related offences.
