A violent juvenile offender is clocking up quite the resume while being held in Queensland detention centres, recently pleading guilty to a spate of assaults against youth workers and damage to government property.
The violent teen, 16, was arraigned in Rockhampton District Court on March 10, pleading guilty to two counts of common assault, one of assault occasioning bodily harm while armed, two counts of serious assault, five counts of wilful damage and one of unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He also pleaded guilty to one of burglary and stealing, one of assault occasioning bodily harm in company while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance and one of unregulated high risk activity.
The juvenile assaulted two Cleveland Detention Centre supervisors in August 2021, hitting them with a broom and leaving a cut on one’s leg.
About a month later, the teen spat on two more supervisors and damaged a smoke detector in his cell.
He went on to break into a Norman Gardens home in early November 2021, stealing a mobile phone, car keys and a Volkswagen vehicle.
Two days later, he scratched his name into a bench in the Rockhampton watch-house.
The teen was remanded in custody and assaulted another youth centre supervisor by throwing a basketball at their head on November 15, 2021.
Two days later he assaulted two more supervisors, kicking one in the ribs and punching the other’s head.
The teen smashed a television in the centre in February in 2022 and climbed up a basketball hoop.
Armed with a crowbar he, with co-offenders, damaged doors, windows, fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, taps and irrigation systems in a Townsville centre in early June 2022.
The teen was then transferred to Brisbane and en route, he scratched his name on various parts of the plane he was being transported on.
After being released back into the community again, the juvenile stomped on a man’s head while the man was on the ground.
The teen was intoxicated and with mates when he assaulted the man in a public place in October 2022.
His sentence was adjourned until March 31 while a presentence report was finalised.
