Two men have faced court on drug offences after police raided their home at Monto, in the North Burnett region.

Christopher Thomas Mcduff, 46, and Kyle Damian Voss, 26, both appeared in Biloela Magistrates Court on January 11.

Mcduff pleaded guilty to producing cannabis.

Voss pleaded guilty to producing and possessing cannabis, as well as possessing a drug utensil.

The court heard police executed a search warrant at their Monto residence on December 12.

In relation to Mcduff, police prosecutor Kelvin Boyd said police found two small cannabis plants at the rear of the house.

Mr Boyd said Mcduff told police he had grown the plants from seeds to assist with pain.

In relation to Voss, Mr Boyd said inside the house, police found 10g of cannabis and a glass pipe.

Mr Boyd said Voss took detectives to the rear of the property where there were two cannabis plants - 20cm and 40cm tall - growing in pots.

Mr Boyd said Voss told police the cannabis and pipe in the house were his, as were the plants outside which he “watered daily”.

“He (Voss) further stated he used the cannabis as medicine and pain relief, as he suffers from constant migraines and major vision impairment,” Mr Boyd said.

Solicitor Lauren Townsend represented both men in court.

She said Mcduff was a self-employed contractor who had been trying to arrange medicinal cannabis.

She said Voss was vision impaired to the point of being blind in one eye.

With no previous offending of this sort, McDuff was fined $500 and no conviction was recorded.

Voss, with no criminal history, was fined $850 and no conviction was recorded.
