Defence lawyer Rebecca Winning said theses offences predated the bail Christian was given on October 8.

Magistrate Jason Schubert, who was considering a bail application for Christian by Ms Winning, said the defendant allegedly gained access to the victim premises by damaging the rear fence and then forced open the rear door by smashing the handle and lock mechanism.

He said Christian then allegedly ripped open envelopes and took out cash being kept in them, then ripped open a money tin that was on a bench and stole all the cash out of it.

Mr Schubert said Christian also allegedly gained access to vending machines and attempted to open a safe.

He said there was $720 cash allegedly stolen.

Mr Schubert said three fingerprints belonging to Christian were found inside the premises and the defendant did not have any affiliation with the club which owned the premises.

Police prosecutor Courtney Brown said Christian’s criminal record was “absolutely appalling” which showed a “steady stream of offending”, particularly dishonesty offences and an “extremely poor” history for breaching bail.

The court heard Christian’s record included 15 bail breach convictions and 25 domestic violence convictions.

Mr Schubert denied Christian bail and remanded him in custody with his matters adjourned until November 25 at 2pm.
