Firefighters are at the scene of multiple fires in the Mount Morgan area this afternoon.
The Queensland Fire Department map shows there are three locations where fire crews have been called to attend fires on the Burnett Highway between Bouldercombe and Mount Morgan – Hamilton Creek, Hempseeds Road at Walmul and Nine Mile Creek.
A Queensland Fire Department confirmed multiple fires in the area with five crews at the scenes now and more en route.
Fire crews were first called at 3.15pm.
A Queensland Police Service spokesman said there were no road diversions in place.
It’s not the first time this season fire crews have battled multiple fires along the Burnett Hwy near Mt Morgan.
In September, two fires broke out on the same day – September 22 – just after Rockhampton Regional Council had closed the Razorback Road for long-term planned roadworks.
Council had planned a full closure of the road between September 13 to the end of January 2025.
Firefighters raced to extinguish two separate fires moving up the range at Mount Morgan in the Struck Oil and Leyden’s Hill Road area along the Burnett Highway.
