Norman Gardens man charged after alleged Parkhurst copper wire theft

A 37yo man will face court after a police search of two homes found a stash of allegedly stolen copper wire spools plus a pair of bolt cutters.

A man has been charged after a string of alleged copper wire thefts in Rockhampton.

It is alleged between February 6 and April 10 a 37-year-old Norman Gardens man went to a business on Bush Crescent on six different occasions, where he gained entry to a secure compound and stole copper wire and a trail camera.

It is further alleged about 1pm on April 24 the man went to a business on Yaamba Rd with a 20-year-old Norman Gardens man where a number of commercial power tools were stolen.

Officers from the Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch searched a home on Pfitzenmaier St on February 14 where they allegedly found a number of empty copper wire spools and insulation from copper wire, as well as a pair of bolt cutters.

Then on May 23, Rockhampton CIB officers searched a Bulman St property where they allegedly found empty copper wire spools and an amount of marijuana and utensils.

The 37-year-old Norman Gardens man was arrested and charged with three counts of enter premises and commit indictable offence, two counts of stealing, two counts of enter premises with intent, one count of attempted enter premises with intent, one count of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possessing property suspect of having been used in connection with a drug offence.

He is expected to appear before the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on June 9.

Investigations are continuing.
