Named: Six drink-drivers caught at Yeppoon

With four of the readings more than twice the legal limit, the drink-driving offences being detected at the Capricorn Coast continue to alarm police.

Six people have pleaded guilty to drink-driving offences during appearances at Yeppoon Magistrates Court in the past month.

COURT, NOVEMBER 11:

Elizabeth Marie Gentle, 41, blew a reading of .118 after the car she was driving crashed at Yeppoon on October 9.

The court heard that Gentle had swerved to avoid a kangaroo at Farnborough before the 11pm crash.

With no history of this sort, Gentle was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for five months.

Emma Jane Rossetto, 31, blew .129 when she was intercepted by police at Emu Park on October 1.

With no history of a similar nature, Rossetto was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for four months.

Zen Charles Seth Broadhurst, 22, was dropping off mates when police caught him drink-driving at Yeppoon on October 16.

Broadhurst returned a reading of .079.

With no history of this sort, Broadhurst was fined $350 and disqualified from driving for one month.

COURT, OCTOBER 28:

Michael John Paterson, 40, was in the passenger seat with a learner driver at the wheel when he was charged with drink-driving.

Paterson blew 0.140 and he was fined $700 and disqualified from driving for five months.

COURT, OCTOBER 21:

Michael Richard Mcallister, 34, blew a high reading of .152 when police caught him driving at Yeppoon on October 4.

With a previous drink-driving offence on his history from 2017, Mcallister was fined $1100 and disqualified from driving for 11 months.

Alexander Dixon Muller, 60, made the mistake of driving after attending an Aussie Rules match and associated event at Yeppoon on September 5.

Muller told police he drove due to a lack of transport available in the town on that night.

He returned a reading of .099.

With a drink-driving history, but nothing in the past five years, Muller was fined $650 and disqualified from driving for four months.

He was granted a restricted driver’s licence for his job as a deckhand and maintenance repairer.
