A Central Queensland mother busted again for possessing drugs has been told to “pursue rehab vigorously” or she is facing a jail sentence.

Haley Lillian Ann Delahunty, 29, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on March 9 to possessing methamphetamine, cannabis, diazepam (valium) and drug utensils.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said that on January 12, police executed a search warrant at a Taroomball house where Delahunty resided with a woman and a man.

The court heard that during the search, police found less than 2g of meth in a safe, a container with less than 0.1g of meth in it, and a clip-seal bag also containing less than 0.1g of meth.

They also found a container with about 1g of cannabis in it, a single diazepam tablet, a used bong, a used brass pipe, and two used glass pipes.

Delahunty was charged with possessing the drugs and items.

The court heard Delahunty had previous drug offending on her criminal history, with the last entry being in April, 2022.

Solicitor Darren Robinson said there were “a lot of positives” to come from police executing the search warrant.

He tendered documents to the court to show Delahunty’s enrolment with Drug ARM (rehab) and also her engagement with Lives Lived Well (drug and alcohol support).

Mr Robinson said Delahunty no longer lived at the raided house which she had shared with her then boyfriend of three years.

The solicitor said the raid was the catalyst for “a series of events” including the end of the couple’s relationship.

Mr Robinson said Delahunty had also since attended a medical centre where she was prescribed diazepam.

“She is fully aware that if she continues on this trajectory, that it is going to ultimately end up in prison,” Mr Robinson said.

Mr Robinson said since the raid, Delahunty had moved back in with her parents with her two young children, and ultimately had plans to relocate to Dysart.

Before handing down penalty, Magistrate Cameron Press had some advice for Delahunty.

“You’ve got young children, you don’t want children growing up in a drug-infested home,” Mr Press said.

“So the onus clearly, is now on you to pursue rehab vigorously.”

Mr Press placed Delahunty on 12 months’ probation with conditions including drug testing.

No convictions were recorded.
