Malachi Samuel Charles Fisher has charges mentioned in Rockhampton court

A date has been set for a teenager, who was hunted by an angry Rockhampton mob fed up with the region’s property crime wave, to have his charges dealt with.

A teenager, who was hunted by an angry Rockhampton mob fed up with the region’s property and youth crime wave, will have his charges dealt with in July.

Malachi Samuel Charles Fisher, 18, was represented by solicitor Brendan Gimbert in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 29, where he said his client’s matter could be listed for a long plea.

Mr Fisher is in custody after he was refused bail in court on May 8.

The court heard Mr Fisher was allegedly involved in an incident where a stolen vehicle was used to smash into the BWS at Parkhurst on May 6 where police also allege a significant amount of alcohol was stolen.

During Mr Fisher’s bail application, police prosecutor Brandon Selic said a mob had gone looking for Mr Fisher and “somehow, certain members of the community had gotten a hold of the location of Mr Fisher and turned up to a private property where he was” and that he had “fled while police tried to hold back a large group of people”.

Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale adjourned Mr Fisher’s matter to July 3 for a plea.

Mr Fisher is charged with two counts of enter dwelling and commit, and one count each of enter dwelling with intent by break at night in company, damage or threaten or attempt to damage property, enter premises and commit indictable offence, enter premises and commit indictable offence by break, possess utensils or pipes for use, possessing dangerous drugs, stealing, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property, and unlawful use of motor vehicles in company.
