The circumstances which led to a frightening Central Queensland car crash which saw two people flown to hospital by rescue chopper, have been revealed in court.

Kodie Jo Love, 25, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court on May 16 to drink-driving.

The court heard that about 4.55pm on February 10, police were called to a single-vehicle crash at Waterpark Road, Byfield.

Love was the driver and her passenger was injured in the crash.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Sarah Rowe said when police arrived, they saw Love’s car had ended up in bushes on the side of the sealed bitumen road in a 100kmh zone.

“The vehicle had significant front-end damage and the front airbags deployed,” Snr Const Rowe said.

“The location where the incident occurred was a large sweeping, open bend on the road.”

Love and her passenger were flown to hospital by helicopter due to the latter’s injuries.

Love subsequently returned a blood alcohol reading of .159.

The court heard that Love had no traffic history.

Solicitor Sam Hernandez said Love was a single mother who worked as a boat cleaner at Rosslyn Bay Harbour.

Ms Hernandez said Love completed the traffic offenders program prior to her court matter being dealt with.

Prior to sentencing, Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale noted that a visibly emotional Love appeared remorseful.

“I think that you are very sorry - you present that way,” Ms Beckinsale said.

She fined Love $1050 and disqualified her from driving for six months.
